Silent Sanctuary's sophomore effort
Silent Sanctuary has always been known for two things: releasing hit songs (remember “Ikaw Lamang”, “Ingat Ka”, “Kundiman”, and “Summer Song?”) and being unique for having a violinist and a cellist. Now, not only has the band released a new album that’s sure to contain more hits, they’ve also beefed up their string arrangements with help from one of the local music scene’s greats.
Composed of Sarkie Sarangay on vocals and guitars, Allen Calixto on drums, Chino David on violin, Anjo Inacay on cello, and latest addition Jason Rondero on bass, Silent Sanctuary has released their sophomore effort called “Mistaken For Granted.” Made up of 11 songs, including their first single “Hay Naku,” the very catchy “Pauwi Na Ako” and the heartbreaking “Hiling,” the album is called so because “We’ve grown past ‘Fuchsiang Pag-Ibig’. This album is our way of saying na we’re not all cute love songs,” Chino says.
“Compared to the first album, mas grown up ang ‘Mistaken For Granted’, from the song themes to the arrangements and even the process of making the album.” This maturity is apparent not only in the songs but also in the album’s inlay (designed by Wiji Lacsamana), chronicling the band’s growth through a mish-mash of pictures and scribbles.
While the first album “Fuchsiang Pag-Ibig” was produced by the band members themselves, “Mistaken For Granted” is produced by Buddy Zabala and Sancho Sanchez, with Buddy also providing additional string arrangements. Also, additional guitars were laid-in by Choko Abejo (of Conctrete Sam) on the track “Lalayo”.
Silent Sanctuary’s “Mistaken For Granted” (under Universal Records) is now available at your favorite record stores.

We want more Mayonnaise!
Mayonnaise has been one of our most favorite dressings ever. And the band Mayonnaise is our favorite when it comes to quirky song titles and LSS-inducing songs. They invaded MYXph.com to spread the word on their newest album, “Tersera” and all the buzz about their latest single and video
A lot had been asking about the song title Torres. Vocalist Monty explained to MYXph.com that it’s a tribute song for their former bassist Lee, who left the band to go to the US. Since they were also a song short in the making of their 3rd album, they decided to make one about her. And the band agrees she’s like the “tower” of the band. Plus, most of the songs are of Spanish influence. “Torres” really fit the album well.
When it was time for the video shoot, the band wanted real-life friends to portray the two female leads. Coincidentally, the video director is friends with Jessica and Erika, who also coincidentally are former MYX VJ Search finalists. The video’s concept was about leaving, so the trains fit well with the theme; shooting in the vicinity of the Metrorail Transit. With the all the buzz “Torres” are getting, it’s gaining airplay on radio and also on MYX!
Mayonnaise had a lot of fun chatting with all of you! One hour isn’t enough! Always make sure to catch their video on MYX! We’re sure there’s a lot more in store for Mayonnaise this year!

Hilera
Hilera, the rock trio who broke out into the scene in 2006 and their love for punk rock music were defined from their self-titled debut album with hit songs DEFINE and RHYME WITHOUT REASON. On their sophomore disc, the band addresses a handful of challenges as the new album draws a heavy influence from classic rock n’ roll with NUT HOUSE now released under PolyEast Records.
Hilera’s NUT HOUSE opens the first single RADICAL, which is now hitting the airwaves and debuted on NU 107.5. Led by their frontman, Chris Padilla shares, “Songwriting is an expression for me. I get influenced by things that affect my whole thinking, that's how we came up with songs for the album. Listening to other artists who inspire us and learning from people we look up to. Radical is about struggle. Struggle to think straight, struggle to control yourself.”
Hilera’s latest offer has an album title that probably gives a bit of curiosity. Going back to our music history, The Beatles referred Manila in 1966 as a “nut-house” quoting John Lennon’s famous line “We'll just never go to any nut-houses again.” But our band Hilera, as a huge fan of the fab four didn’t take this as negative statement from their rock heroes. As Bobby Padilla (drummer) explains. “To me it represents the country because nut houses are historical in the Philippines. So the listeners know that we are Filipinos.” Chris also added, “I'm a big fan of The Beatles, and I can't blame them if they thought about us that way, like savages. With "Nut House", being the title, I basically just wanted a statement that this silly piece of music came from a NUT HOUSE.”
Hilera had their debut with their self-titled album in 2006 and as for their sophomore disc released by Polyeast (EMI Philippines) they are back with their signature of young but dynamic rock collection of 16 new compositions that will pay homage to classic rock. “Nut House had taken lots of influences coming from different genres like rockabilly, swing, orchestral, garage, 50's, 60's etc,” Bobby shared.
Hilera is, and will always be about, change. That’s what this record was about. It took roughly one year to write and record with a greater challenge to be at least differentiating them to other rock bands nowadays. Hilera equipped their new album with different and wide range of sound and of moods, added different instruments like a brass section, piano, upright bass, harmonica and a banjo which contributed their adventure flowing from aggressive to subtle to orchestral. Ivan Garcia (bassist) saw it as, ”This album is different from the first one. With its new compositions, more instruments, more versatility, more diversity than the first one and most of the songs are played with an upright bass and I say that this is what we're looking for.”
The band’s effort payoff and came up with 16 songs that include the first single Radical, Stop The Fight, Not This Time, Ded Ded Ded, It’s A Crime, Another Face, No Lizard King, Murder, I’LL Get By, So Be It, Floating In A Freefall, Wala Akong Alam, Stop Looking AT Me, Protest, It All Ends and Doo Wop Pop. All songs were recorded at Hilera’s home studio which they named it Raw Chord. (Except track Ded, Ded, Ded)
Buy the album now and get Hilera’s very special album package where you can actually build your own nut house and rock the house with Hilera’s indelible hits after the other.
Hilera are Chris Padilla on vocals, Ivan Garcia on bass/upright bass and Bobby Padilla on drums. NUT HOUSE is their follow-up to their self titled album in 2006 and is now available in all record bars released under PolyEast Records. PolyEast Records is now the licensee of EMI Music International.
The MP4 format contains all his music videos!

Karylle
“Bouncing back, it’s important to go through all the stages...”
Get inspired how Karylle, our young diva shares her meaningful and positive experiences on her way to learning through songs. Now available in all record bars, Polyeast Records announces Karylle’s much-awaited album of her journey to a new life and a new-found love for music which plays throughout the length of the 11-track disc called TIME FOR LETTING GO.
TIEM FOR LETTING GO showcases Karylle’s gifts as a distinctive powerhouse vocalist and is released under PolyEast Records with the lead single, I’LL NEVER GET OVER YOU, GETTING OVER ME--a cover from the all-female pop group Expose. The story of love gone wrong unfolds as Karylle’s version is now poised to heat up the airwaves and its music video will be launched soon.
There has been much written about the process of coping with a loss. But as Karylle unravels a story through music, her task to herself became simpler but braced with so much positivism and hope in her heart. TIME FOR LETTING GO is a collection of her most favorite songs that will surely give a definition of finding more meaning of moving on and divide grief into stages. The album’s first stage is denial. Karylle added, “Denial is when you keep saying ‘I’m okay’ even where you’re not. “ One of her original compositions, a sumptuous combination of heart and soul HULOG NG LANGIT is defined by Karylle as “I remained myself in a place that was comfortable and familiar. I distracted myself with beautiful memories to take the place of my reality.”
Second task is anger where Karylle releases anger in the songs YOU’VE MADE ME STRONGER originally by Regine Velasquez and a beautiful ballad ALMOST OVER YOU borrowed from the pop sensation Sheena Easton. This emotional state have inhibited Karylle a sound judgment and clear thinking that she’s ready to take the next step which is depression. As for Karylle, depression is tough. So she relates the songs I’LL NEVER GER OVER YOU, GETTING OVER ME, the album’s kick-off single borrowed from Expose.
As the reality of loss sinks in deeply, bargaining as the fourth stage to Karylle’s journey where the songs THE BEST OF ME (David Foster/Olivia Newton John), a duet with the concert king Martin Nievera also brings another experience to Karylle; one of Karylle’s original compostions, MINAMAHAL KITA and soulful piano-driven WALA NA BANG LAHAT which was composed years back with her ex-boyfriend Dingdong Dantes; and her voice that carries of soul and romance with the remake of TOUCH ME IN THE MORNING originally recorded by Diana Ross in the 70s. Another highlight to this stage is her duet with her mom, Zsa Zsa Padilla with the song popularized by Natalie Cole in the song I LIVE FOR YOUR LOVE. Bargaining for Karylle means “This is when you bargain if you should stay or you should go.”
Until Karylle found her sense of peace and calmness is reached as she begin to find new purpose and meaning relates with the songs SOMETHING NEW IN MY LIFE, a cover from Stephen Bishop’s hit song and LEAVING YESTERDAY BEHIND, an OPM original of Keno. “I must let go of it to make way for newer, bigger and better dreams,” she added.
Time of letting go is a time for new beginnings. And now Karylle shares what she has become after her ordeal, this album has all the answers…Get this 11 tales of the heart with TIME OF LETTING GO, now available in all record bars released by Polyeast Records

Long Time Noisy is Kamikaze
Universal Records finally releases Kamikazee’s much-anticipated third album Long Time Noisy featuring the launching single “Wala”. Long Time Noisy is Kamikazee’s follow-up to their Double Platinum breakthrough album Maharot.
Kamikazee was formed by five friends who met in the College of Fine Arts at the University of the Philippines Diliman: Jay Contreras (lead vocals), Jomal Linao (guitars), Led Zeppelin Tuyay (guitars), Jason “Puto” Astete (bass) and Allan “Bords” Burdeos (drums). After playing in small gigs (mostly on campus), the band managed to get signed to another major label due to the strong cult buzz generated by their heavy guitar-driven rock and hilarious antics. Their eponymous debut album released in 2002 spawned radio hits and cult faves such as “Chinelas” (a hilarious rap-metal parody, which was the rage that time) and covers of Ariel Rivera’s classic hit “Sana Kahit Minsan” and Britney Spears’ “Lucky”.
In 2005, the band re-emerged with the hilarious gay-bait anthem “Chiksilog”, which first became a hit after being released for the compilation album Rok On!. The following year, they moved on with Universal Records and released Maharot, which was jumpstarted by the massive radio hit “Narda”. To say that the song is the band’s biggest nationwide hit is a big, big understatement. From there, the album also spawned hits such as “Martyr Nyebera” and “Seksi Seksi”. The band also came up with hits such as the Parokya Ni Edgar collaboration “The Ordertaker” (from PNE’s own Halina sa Parokya” and their rendition of APO Hiking Society’s “Doo Bidoo”, which made the compilation tribute album Kami nAPO Muna one of the highest-selling albums in recent memory. Kamikazee’s longtime hard efforts finally paid off, making them one of the most in-demand rock bands in the live circuit, a multi-awarded band (winning NU107 Rock Awards as Listeners’ Choice and Song of the Year for “Narda”, for starters) and commercial endorsers for high-profile products such as Rexona and Smart.
The band took three long years to construct and record Long Time Noisy as the band balanced their grueling gig schedules and their serious desire to release the best album they can possibly come up with. And they did exactly that with mtheir new album. The album was recorded at Tower of Doom studios with producer Eric Perlas (whose credits include The Out of Body Special Love Is…, Queso and Chicosci’s last albums) and includes collaborations with keyboardist Leo Saño of Corporate Lo-Fi, turntablist Biboy Garcia of Sinag and Queso, Maychelle Baay of Moonstar88, Ian Tayao of Queso, Reg Rubio of Greyhoundz and Chito Miranda of Parokya ni Edgar.
Long Time Noisy is Kamikazee’s best and most consistent album. They continue their brand of heavy rock, dosed with pop sensibilities and witty lyrical ideas. Their lead single “Wala” is somewhat uncharacteristic, a cynical social commentary song that is nonetheless laden with heavy pop hooks (“Ano kayo, hilo?/Ako muna bago kayo!”). The album is opened with two high-energy love-themed songs “Ikaw” (“kapirasong langit sa lupa”) and another paean to unrequited love “Hanggang Tingin” (which contains one of the most headbang-inducing heavy instrumental adlibs in a love song ever). “Eschoos Me” is the band’s rakista anthem. Songs such as “4:20”, “Unang Tikim” and “Hot Mami” shows the band’s tendency for witty double entendres while Kamikazee’s explosive cover of the late master rapper Francis Magalona’s “Meron Akong Ano” is already worth the price of admission. “Lalandiin” is a funky spoken word song that puts a hilarious D.O.M. twist to “Mr. Suave”. The acoustic “Alay” has big radio hit potential while tracks such as “M.M.K. (Maala-Ala Mo Kami)” and the scathing “Chismosa” should keep avid Kamikazee fans occupied along with the hilarious interludes. All killer, no filler indeed.

Callalily
Being a front-act for 6cyclemind during the start of their career, Callalily never expected to come this far. Kean Cipriano (vocals), Aaron Ricafrente (bass), Tatsi Jamnaque (guitar), Alden Acosta (lead guitar) and Lemuel Belaro (drums) are considered to be one of the young bloods in the OPM scene because of the band’s quick rise to stardom.
In 2006, Callalily released their debut album “Destination XYZ” and who would have thought that 5 young individuals under 20 would have this much success with their debut effort alone. The bands first single “Stars” received great acceptance by the music fanatics and gained them a solid following. Other hit singles followed after that, hit singles such as “Take My Hand”, “Pasan”, “Sanctuary” and their biggest hit “Mag balik”. “Magbalik” instantly made Callalily reach the top as they stayed several weeks at #1 on music charts all over the Philippines.
After the major success of Callalily with “Destination XYZ”, the released their sophomore album entitled “Fisheye” which has already produced 2 hits “Susundan” and “Ako’y Babalik”. Through this sophomore album it showed that the band has truly matured with their music, illustrating a louder and more powerful display of Callalily’s sound and showmanship.

CHICOSCI officially formed back in 2000, when vocalist Miguel Chavez, guitarist Mong Alcaraz, bassist Carlos Calderon all decided to join (and win) an interschool Battle of the Bands. Since then, CHICOSCI's career has gone from an after-school activity to a full-time profession.
The first two albums were Revenge of the Giant Robot (2001) and Method of Breathing (2002). The single "Sink or Swim" from their debut effort, established the band as one of the forerunners of the new generation of rock. Method of Breathing allowed further recognition for CHICOSCI as the song "Paris" dominated the Philippines' on rock station's charts for over a year. "Paris" held the number 1 position for more than 52 weeks on NU 107's countdown, which ultimately gave CHICOSCI the NU 107's Song of the Year award in 2002.
In 2004, the band released the album Icarus. Never satisfied and always trying out new things, CHICOSCI further redefined their sound with the release of its third album. Touted as their most experimental record, Icarus brought the band into even greater heights. The singles "Shallow Graves", and "An Argument" both landed spots in NU 107's weekly and year-end countdowns.
In 2006 however, CHICOSCI finally found mainstream success with the release of its new self-titled album under MCA-Universal Music. Originally released independently, the new album is now repackaged with 15 songs plus a music video. Having been in the studio for more than a year, the band boasts this record as being their best work to date. A self-produced effort, the band again attempts to give listeners something new to look forward to.
Their last two music videos for singles "Seven Black Roses" and "Chicosci Vampire Social Club" both dominated the Philippines' music channel MYX, ranking number 1 on the daily, weekly, OPM, and Hit Chart countdowns. Both singles enjoyed radio success as well, topping numerous Philippine radio stations' countdowns. Their earlier single, "A Promise", was no push over as well. Its video also reached top spots on music channel while its radio success was capped off by a number 1 spot on rock station NU 107's countdown.
The repackaged album is well on its way to gold status as it was ranked as one of the top-selling albums of major record bars in the Philippines, including Music One-Tower Records and Odyssey Music.
CHICOSCI is also slowly making waves across the region, spreading their music in various countries in South East Asia. Aside from sharing the stage with American big-name acts such as Fall Out Boy, Good Charlotte, and Thursday, CHICOSCI has toured with other groups from Asia and Australia. The band was part of Crossborders in Malaysia and Singapore last December 2006 and went on the road tour once again in 2007's INVASIA tour, which covered countries such as Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore. The band has also garnered several accolades from various media entities across the region.
Armed with new members which guitarist Ariel Lumanlan and drummer Macoy Estacio, CHICOSCI is currently wrapping up work on their upcoming fifth album, to be released within the year under MCA Music. Truth be told, CHICOSCI's fanbase has expanded exponentially over the past years and will only grow bigger as the boys continue to make waves in music industry.

Coldplay
The guys of Coldplay started to form the group when they were just students at University College London. The band is composed of Chris Martin, Jonny Buckland, Guy Berryman and Will Champion, who all have the same music influences such as U2, R.E.M. and Radiohead.
The band rose to fame with their single Yellow, which is from their debut album Parachutes. It instantly soared to # 1 on the UK Albums Chart. It got so popular that it was even nominated for the Mercury Prize in 2000. Aside from that, it won Best Alternative Music Album during the 2002 Grammy Awards.
After getting the public’s attention, things got even better for the band since their follow up album A Rush of Blood to the Head won numerous awards including NME’s Album of the Year. Once again, they grabbed the Best Alternative Music Album during the Grammy Awards in 2003. Included in the record was Clocks, which earned them another Grammy for Record of the Year. In My Place and The Scientist were also well-received.
In 2004, the band got out of the spotlight after constant touring and just worked on their third album X & Y. They released it in June 2005. Its lead single was “Speed of Sound”, and it was followed by “Fix You” and “Talk”. Eventhough X & Y wasn’t as successful as Parachutes, it still received a lot of positive reviews.
The group started to take on a new direction as they made their fourth record, Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends which showed a different musical style. It was evident in the lead single off the album -Violet Hill. Violet Hill was followed by the title track, Viva La Vida that became a hot digital download.

Cueshe
Cueshé has achieved a lot since breaking in the mainstream band scene in 2005. Hit singles, sold-out concerts and awards from MYX, MTV and other award-giving bodies make up this band. After releasing two albums “Half Empty, Half Full” and “Back To Me” (which were certified Double Platinum and Gold respectively) for two consecutive years, the band remained one of the country’s most hardworking bands keeping themselves busy fulfilling live engagements around the country and overseas while writing and recording songs for their new album.
Fans can now heave a sigh of relief and start to rejoice as Jay Justiniani (vocals), Ruben Caballero (vocals/ guitars), Fritz Labrado (bass), Jovan Mabini (lead guitars), Jhunjie Dosdos (keyboards) and Mike Manaloto (drums) return with their much anticipated new album entitled “Driven.” Cueshe as their album title suggests is literally “driven” as they are motivated to keep their fans and supporters happy with their brand of music. Tracks such as the carrier single "BMD" as well as “Drift,” “Back To You,” and “Minsan,” will prove just that.
“We are so grateful for our fans support and this is our promise---to keep on writing songs to them,” Ruben said. The band is proud of the songs which according to them have more substance and in-depth attitude, better musicality. Despite some criticisms that were thrown off the band, Cueshe has remained steadfast and is determined to just keep on focusing on music and that likewise makes them “driven” to continue their passion.
Hear Jay, Ruben, Jovan, Fritz, Jhunjie and Mike driven and united to bring their best album to date. “Driven” is now out at your favorite record stores nationwide under Sony BMG Music Entertainment.

Dianne Elise
Dianne Elise is undeniably a gifted individual with her physical aesthetic and talent all rolled into one. This young woman’s vocal prowess is undeniable, and her striking beauty is truly captivating. Born in the Philippines and raised in the States, Dianne Elise made her mark in the Washington, DC music scene at a very young age. Her musical inclination ignited when she attended a Performing Arts Magnet School where she majored in Chorus. Gaining exposure in the arts early on, Dianne had the privilege of becoming a part of highly selective choral groups which proved her musical artistry.
Not being a stranger to the stage, Dianne’s recognition sparked as she performed in prestigious places such as The White House, Kennedy Center, and Constitution Hall. This served as an avenue for her fame which captured the hearts of local concert producers in the States. She performed with big names and Filipino legends based in the US, as well as various international recording groups.
Since returning home to the Philippines, her name has been plastered all over the media, as well as the digital world. She has made TV appearances on major television networks like GMA, ABC, ABS-CBN, MTV, ETC, and MYX, performing with other acoustic bands which opened more concerts for her.
Dianne Elise declares resilience as she releases her sophomore album under MCA Music entitled “Committed.” After the success of her debut album, she was signed up by MCA Music and immediately went back to the studio to record another fine selection of melodies. She delivers an alluring rendition of covers in this album, with a touch of flair that is distinctly “Dianne Elise’s.” The type of music in this album can be best described as a mixture of classic R&B and pop jazz.
Committed gives people the chance to reminisce with tracks like Westlife’s “If I Let You Go” and ‘N Sync’s “This I Promise You.” Revamped arrangements make the songs more unique without losing the essence that made them appealing in the first place. For those whose boy band obsession never took place, Dianne renders retro tunes for the young and old alike.
The carrier single of the album, “If You’re Not the One,” was handpicked by the solo artist herself during the selection process but it almost did not make the cut. While others argued the song was too contemporary to revive, Dianne insisted on coming out with her own version. The result was a refreshing take on Daniel Bedingfield’s hit with a more delicate touch. If You’re Not The One is currently gaining heavy rotation on POP Adult Contemporary stations in Metro Manila and in the provinces.
When asked why she picked the title Committed, Dianne relates, “The album talks about the continuous struggle of any relationship. There are ups and downs but the point is to stay committed all throughout.” Her description can be made akin to the journeys people take in life, like that of her career. Since her debut, she has taken on the roles of a radio jock, commercial model, and host. But whether there are ups and downs, it seems Dianne Elise is always ready to show her commitment.

Fall Out boy
Fall Out Boy was formed in 2001 in Wilmette, Illinois. The quartet consists of Patrick Stump on vocals, Pete Wentz on bass, Joe Trohman on guitar, and Andy Hurley on drums. The guys were influenced by their favorite rock bands - Green Day, Descendents and The Smiths.
When they were just starting, the band was nameless. But after a couple of shows, they asked the audience for some ideas, and one yelled Fallout Boy, which is a cartoon character from The Simpsons.
Before landing a major record deal, the group released a mini-LP entitled ‘Fall Out Boy’s Evening Out With Your Girlfriend’ and a full-length album ‘Take This To Your Grace’. But it was in 2005 that they got their big break under Island Records. Their album ‘From Under The Cork Tree’ reached double platinum in the U.S. Its first single “Sugar We’re Going Down” became a huge hit, which led to a nomination for Best New Artist during the 2006 Grammy Awards. Their follow up single “Dance Dance” also received positive reviews and entered the Modern Rock Charts.
Infinity on High was released in 2007, and the lead single “It Aint a Scene It’s an Arms Race” peaked at number 1 on the Billboard Hot 200. The second single off the album, “Thnks Fr Th Mmrs” also entered the chart in no time. Months after, they released their third single titled The Take Over, The Breaks Over.
Even if the band is known for their rock sound, they showed their versatility as musicians with their collaborations with rapper Kanye West, T.I. and Timbaland. Another artist that they worked with was John Mayer who was their guest guitarist for their cover of Michael Jackson’s 80s hit Beat It.

Hale
Hale is one of the OPM rock bands to have relentlessly zoomed to stardom since 2005 with the release of their chart-topping single “The Day You Said Goodnight” coming from their self-titled debut album. The band consists of Champ Lui Pio (guitar and vocals), Roll Martinez (guitars), Sheldon Gellada (bass) and Omnie Saroca (drums) and according to the band they never expected hysterical success after being together as Hale for barely a year. The band was formed supposedly just to be a means for the members to express themselves through music but fate had a different plan for them.
Success after success followed the four-piece rock band as they received praises from music fanatics all over the Philippines. And because of their unique sound, Hale spawned a new pop rock genre called “melodrama”.
After the achievement of their debut album “Hale” and their sophomore album ”Twilight” where they sprung hit singles such as “The Day You Said Goodnight”, “Toll Gate”, “Blue Sky”, “Waltz”, “Hide and Seek”, and “Shooting Star” the band decided to risk everything they worked hard for and hibernate in order to regain inspiration for their music. “There was a time when we were at the point of exhaustion. It was just too much that our friendship and performance were suffering. It [became] obvious back then that we needed to slow down and rejuvenate. That triggered the decision to lay low,” according to Hale front man Champ Lui Pio.
In 2008, the band finally came back to the OPM scene with a newfound passion and it is definitely seen in their 3rd installment, “Above, Over and Beyond”. According to the band, this is the album that is closest to their hearts since it took ten months to make. New inspiration showed in this album since Hale’s sound took a different turn when it came to their lyrics and arrangement. This time it’s less “melodrama” and more uplifting and inspiring.
After a long hiatus, Hale also became involved with social issues and wanted to help out in their own little way by organizing beneficial concerts. Thus Treehouse productions was born.
Rejuvenated and more inspired, Hale is definitely back in the OPM scene. They have already released two hit singles from their 3rd studio album (Above, Over and Beyond) - “Pitong Araw” and “Leap of Faith”. There’s no doubt that this band has a lot in store for us.

itchyworms
To break in to the band scene is already like looking for a needle in a haystack. Lucky if they pass that phase but the next steps would prove to be a challenge - keeping the momentum, establishing credibility and longevity.
Only a few bands experience such kind of popularity yet still gaining the respect of both critics and colleagues at the same, continue to bring good music to the audiences. Itchyworms is one band that fits to the description.
Starting off as an independent band in 1996, this band has come a long way to being a signed artist and one of the most respected in the industry today. Formed by Ateneo college orgmates Jazz Nicolas (drums/ vocals), Kelvin Yu (bass/ vocals) and Jugs Jugueta, this former trio added Chino Singson to fill the second guitar position in 1997.
The band counts The Beatles, Sting, the Police, Dada, Superdrag, Matthew Sweet, Weezer, the Zombies, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Eric Johnson, Paul McCartney, Stanley Clarke, Jaco Pastorius, Eric Clapton, Metallica, Bob Marley and the Wailers, Guns ‘n’ Roses, Extreme, Van Halen, and the Eraserheads among others as musical influences.
Their music, guitar-driven pop rock embellished with two or three-part vocal harmony conquered the airwaves, most notable of which are “Akin Ka Na Lang” and the number one single “Beer.” With their flair for writing witty and cohesive lyrics, Itchyworms became more of a household name with their contributions for commercial jingles and television show theme songs. They have likewise received awards and nominations from prestigious award-giving bodies like the MYX Music Awards and NU Rock Awards.
Nothing can stop Itchyworms from further rising as they are now on their new home - Sony BMG Music Entertainment.
“We are happy to be part of a new family and we are grateful they welcomed us with open arms,” Jugs said. The band just came out with their major-label release called “Self-Titled.”
“This is the first time we produced our own album,” Jugs said when asked with the album title. The album features the hit carrier single “Penge Naman Ako Nyan” which lorded over the charts of NU 107’s “Stairway To Seven” for weeks and garnered heavy rotation on the airwaves of top radio stations in the country.
Like in their past albums, Jugs and Jazz took the songwriting chores which were inspired by personal experiences. It can be heard on the 15 remaining originals like “Freak-out Baby,” “Bugbog Sarado,” “Awitin Para Sa Mga Nagmumuni-muni” and “Gusto Ko Lang Sa Buhay.”
“Our sound right now is more representative of what is currently in our heads but the strengths and pop sensibilities in our past albums are still there,” Chino said. “Self-Titled” is now out in CDs at leading record stores nationwide under Sony BMG Music Entertainment

Jonas Brothers
We’ve seen the likes of The Moffats and Hanson show us how music is done when you do it with your brothers. And you gotta admit that you liked how they did it! But the Jonas Brothers aren’t about to be just another bunch of siblings turned singers that will get you ogling to them. And as some have already professed, the Jonas Brothers “have grown exponentially as songwriters, musicians and recording artists” since they came out with their self-titled platinum CD in 2007. Joe, Nick, and Kevin validate that statement their more recent record called “"A Little Bit Longer”, where the album is enjoying an overwhelming attention and support from the JB fans. What’s the formula for getting this much attention? Write your 12 songs by yourselves “put your feelings on the line, while still rocking the house as…” just like what the Jonas Brothers did.
Just like any other band or artist who dreams of having a shot at performing for a bigger crowd, the Jonas Brothers had to start from somewhere—in their case, the family basement. This is where they would usually mount their own impromptu concerts until they started getting commercial gigs with their supportive parents’ prodding. These guys landed roles in Broadway musicals such as "Les Miserables," "Beauty and the Beast," “A Christmas Carol – The Musical,” and “Annie Get Your Gun.” The trio eventually got the chance to sign for a record deal in 2005 which jumpstarted their careers. They got a lot of television exposures from then on, starting with their own reality TV series titled "Jonas Brothers – Living the Dream". They were recently seen in the Disney Channel original movie, "Camp Rock," with an average of 8.9 million viewers becoming the network’s most-watched non-sequel movie to-date.And the overwhelming debut of Camp Rock on Disney Channel was followed up by the debut of the “Burnin’ Up” video by the Jonas Brothers. Talk about series of success!
The popularity of the Jonas Brothers is close to phenomenal that some fans have dared to compare these guys to the Beatles! That’s right folks, the Jonas Brothers have been considered by some as the Paul, George, John and Ringo of today! That’s a way bit over the top comparison but hey, they might actually be the new Beatles after a few more years in the biz! Wanna bet? Well, these brothers from Wycoff, New Jersey have made it to the headlines with sold out concerts in the US. They also got to perform live in New York's Times Square on Dick Clark's New Year's Rocking Eve. They already has RIAA-platinum plaques under their sleeves. They sang as a guest of the US President Bush in a White House balcony for the annual Easter Egg Roll. They also caught attention as players for the hit shows “Dancing With the Stars” and “American Idol”. And they earned for themselves seven platinum and gold certified records outside the US!
But the fame and fan frenzy aren’t about to get into the heads of these guys. Asked about dating a fan, the brothers answer with an astounding YES!. So you girls out there stop wishing and wondering and start drawing these guys attention towards you because they say that they have already dated fans or girls that are not celebrities. And they believe that the girl they will spend their lives with will be their biggest “fan”. What will it take for that to happen? Bake ‘em their favourite Blueberry muffin, that should get them. As they say, a way to a boy’s heart is through his stomach.

Journey
MCA MUSIC is presents the new chapter in the legendary career of multi-platinum US rockers JOURNEY - Neal Schon (guitar), Jonathan Cain (keyboards), Ross Valory (bass), Deen Castronovo (drums) and Arnel Pineda (vocals) – entitled Revelation.
The brand new record will come in a beautifully packaged two CD set which will include 11 new songs and 11 re-recorded classics with our very own ARNEL PINEDA on vocals.
Revelation is the first Journey album to feature the angelic voice of Filipino singer ARNEL PINEDA. Guitarist Neal Schon says about him “We feel reborn. I think there’s a lot of chemistry between the five of us. The new stuff sounds tremendous. Everyone’s so stoked about it. We feel very fortunate to have found Arnel”.
“Arnel brings a soulful and passionate voice to Journey”, continues keyboardist Jonathan Cain. “His personality is very well-suited to our music. He’s a sincere, authentic person with a great smile and a big heart. I think fans are really going to love him. With Arnel’s soaring tenor, Journey returns to our heritage sound.”
The first album with lead vocalist Arnel Pineda, Revelation is Journey running on no less than twelve cylinders, a fine-tuned offering that sounds every bit like a band hitting their stride. Schon and Cain penned all 11 of the new tracks on “Revelation”. There is no lack of chemistry in Journey, beginning with the songwriting core of Schon and Cain. “I felt strongly about moving forward and writing new material.
It was time,” Schon states. Schon then put the call into Cain and started the song writing process which has now become the album, “Revelation”. “There’s an innate trust and respect for what we each do as we weave our way through this music,” says Cain. Schon adds, “In the alphabet, I might be a Z and Jonathan the A, that’s just how opposite we are musically sometimes. I write mostly rock and Jonathan writes most of the ballads, but when you combine the chemistry of us together, you’ll find that it is the nucleus and sound of what is and has been Journey.
And now, with the right voice in place, we have all the right ingredients.” Revelation is available in all records stores nationwide, only from MCA Music.

Kc
One of the most highly-anticipated events in the music industry is the release of the mega-daughter’s debut recording. Picking-up from her much-raved-about acoustic rendition of Rihanna’s “Umbrella” for her “From Paris to ‘Pinas” TV special, the album is leaning towards a semi-alternative pop direction, yet with a light and young feel that crosses-over diverse demographics and market segments.
The album is a fusion of original compositions and a host of remakes, done in completely different arrangements. Very interesting examples are the 80’s hits “Melt With You” (Modern English) and “I Just Can’t Get Enough” (Depeche Mode). Imagine these songs being guitar-based harmonized with percussions which KC herself played live with Pinikpikan during the recording, creating a unique world music sound.
With the original compositions, KC has collaborated with seasoned songwriters and arrangers for songs that she wants to be remembered for, and that she could claim her own. Maestro Ryan Cayabyab contributed a soon-to-be classic anthem in “Ngiti Lang,” while funnyman Joey de Leon threw-in some serious Tagalog lyrics for “Doo-bee-doo,” an adaptation of an original South African hit song.
The alternative contributions came from ex-Eraserhead and Sandwich lead vocalist Raymund Marasigan who has written and produced two originals “Breathe” and “Sabihin Mo Na Lang.” Pinikpikan’s Sammy Asuncion has produced majority of the songs together with Angelo Villegas, which explains the album’s world music bent, including Joey Ayala’s “Agila (Haring Ibon)” that showcases KC’s vocal capabilities.
With this debut album, KC is destined to be remembered, not only as a movie/TV celebrity and a highly-effective product endorser, but also as a consummate singer of her generation.

Miguel Escueta
With the success of his songs “Handa”, “Isipin” and “Falling Away” still fresh, there’s no stopping Miguel Escueta from making waves in the music scene. Fervor seeps through the veins of this rock star as he brings in a new single: his own rendition of the 80’s crossover hit “Blue Monday”, which was originally popularized by the English Rock Group ‘New Order’. This song has been deemed as the biggest selling single of all time, topping UK sales of over one million and making a mark in the 80’s era.
Injected with his distinctive style, Miguel, also popularly known as “ME”, l gives his own version a modern twist, making it more attuned with the times. The mishmash of syndicating beats and throbbing bass lines infused with Miguel’s vigor gives his rendition of the song a strong kick that will surely leave audiences keyed up.
Though penetrating the music scene is not an easy feat, Miguel had already managed to make a mark in the industry in recent past. In 2005, he was nominated for Best New Male Recording at the 2005 Awit Awards. The reason behind this singer-songwriter’s drive to achieve the pinnacle of his career stems from his deep fixation for music, as manifested in the energy transmitted in each of his performances.
The release of his repackaged album, I AM M.E. AMPLIFIED under MCA Music soars to great heights as his singles play heavy on the turntables and gain multiple requests. Having a rugged, edgy and strong vibe, this double-disc series contain original compositions and popular tracks that unleash this young blood’s undeniable vocal appeal and musical artistry.
With his new single “Blue Monday”, Miguel is more pumped up and ready to raise decibel levels while rocking the music landscape. The single has now been released on radio and they also just finished shooting its music video. Pixeleyes Multimedia was at the helm of production. Headed by Director Yano Escueta and production partner Jalz Zarate, this promises to be ME’s most rocking video thus far. Using effects and a mood similar to that of the movie “300”, the basic setting portrays Miguel and his band (Juni, Jeng and Roy) performing at a Rock Concert. This video is truly something to watch out for. It premiered on MYX last December 14, 2008.

Miley Cyrus
Miley Cyrus is definitely serious with what she does and her youth apparently doesn’t stand in the way of her dreams of making it big in the biz. She’s out with her record titled “Breakout” which is nothing less than a testament of her creative freedom because this album is a hundred percent Miley which means she co-wrote eight of the 13 songs in the album, and was also heavily involved in the productions of these cuts. You might have caught her previous album where she performed as the hit Disney character Hannah Montana.
This budding teen sensation has made it clear through her debut single “7 Things” that she is a rocker. She portrays an angst-ridden teener who loathes faithless love. But Miley isn’t all about angst, she’s also for fun where she did a rendition of a Cindy Lauper “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun”. There are a couple more tracks that emphasize her fun-loving rock chick branding and these singles include “Full Circle” and “Fly in the Wall”.
Miley is a native of Nashville, Tennesse and born to country music superstar/ actor Blly Ray Cyrus. She was caught in the net that her dad was in and got into acting as well. She played extra in her father’s films and when she was ready to take a few more steps in the ladder of showbusiness, went on to appear in a Tim Burton movie titled “Big Fish”. Her onscreen appearance obviously didn’t stop there because after a gruelling audition for the part, Miley eventually landed the role of “Hannah Montana” that rated so high back in the States. And Miley became one of Disney Channel’s faces.
Being Hannah Montana has its perks. She came out with records both as Hannah Montana and as Miley Cyrus. She is currently working on the film version of her hit Disney series, and is reportedly starring in an animated film titled “Bolt”. She also plans to release an inspirational book relating her humble beginnings in her home in Tennessee up to her success in the record, music and film scene.
So now there’s a lot of reason to take Miley Cyrus seriously. Either you love her or hate her, she’s Miley Cyrus and she’s about to give you more than 7 Things to love her!

These four individuals have their own promising careers outside the group. Paolo is a music video director; Herbert is in advertising; Bon is a radio marketer; and Maysh is a clinical researcher.
Moonstar88 has released two commercially successful albums, had a change in lineup and had a long break from the mainstream circle and yet, these did not affect their musical growth and their personal bond was tightened by their experiences on and off the road, in and out of the music scene.
